M.C.B.A.’s Meeting Minutes For February 28 @ 7:00 P.M. Attendance Brian Dexter Lewis Jones Jr. Johnnie Culton John Beranek Gordy Hall David Lowery David Whittamore Meeting Minutes President John Beranek called the M.C.B.A.’s Annual Meeting to order and called roll call. Seven (7) out of eleven (11) board members were present for the meeting. John then awarded the prize money and plaques for the bowlers who placed in the City Tournament. It was told to the association members present that the board needs to fill four spots on the board. David Whittamore made a motion to elect Breck Tyree to the board of directors. The motion got a second and carried. David then made a motion to elect Jack Noe to the board. The motion was seconded and carried. A motion was made to elect Bryan Culton to the board. The motion got a second and carried. The board was also informed that John Poynter and Everett King were interested in joining the board of directors. With one spot left on the board and neither were present the board discussed removing Bill Bradley to make room for both John and Everett. Bill hadn’t attended a meeting in a while and told Lewis that he was thinking about quitting the board in an earlier conversation. Since the board felt Bill wasn’t interested in continuing on the board at this time a motion was made to remove him from the board. The motion got a second and carried. A motion was then made to elect John Poynter to the board. The motion got a second and passed. A motion was then made to elect Everett King to the board. The motion got a second and also passed. Lewis Jones Jr. then made a suggestion to the members that the board meet every other month instead of monthly since attendance has been poor and their wasn’t that much to take care of at a monthly meeting. The board discussed the proposal. Lewis made a motion to meet bimonthly. The motion got a second and carried. The board set Tuesday April 2, 2002 as the date of the next meeting. The meeting will be held at Maroon Lanes at 7:00 PM. The board was asked about the changing of the name of the M.C.B.A.’s Annual City Tournament from the Roger Childress Memorial City Tournament. It was explained that the tournament was changed last year in remembrance of Roger Childress who passed away last January. The board then discussed how much to donate to the Y.A.B.A. to help send youth bowlers to the state tournament. Lewis told the members that our association has donated to the youth association over the last four years. A question was asked who would be eligible for the donated money. Brian Dexter explained that every youth member who wants to go to the state tournament was eligible for help in paying their entry fees. Brian then asked how much money was in the association account. Lewis reported that after paying the President and Secretary/Treasurer salary that there would be approximately $1,800 in the account. It was asked how many youth bowlers would participate in the state tournament. David Lowery reported that he would soon know and get back to the board. He then spoke to the members about the youth association. David Whittamore made a motion to set aside $400 maximum to help pay the entry fees of the youth bowlers to the state tournament. The motion got a second and carried. Brian Dexter told the board he was in the process of getting certification to be an instructor so he could help the youth bowlers. Lewis told the members that committees would be filled at the next board meeting. Brian told the board that it wasn’t association business but wanted to let the board know that the management at Galaxy Center wanted to hold a weekly event to help build interest in bowling. Brian discussed some of the ideas they were considering. He asked Jack if he had any plans for upcoming events at Maroon Lanes. Jack said he didn’t have any but is running a weekly Monte Carlo Tournament on Fridays. The members discussed other ideas of events to hold and what other centers are doing.
