Meeting Minutes

President John Beranek called the meeting of the M.C.B.A to order.  John then took roll; six (6) of twelve (12) directors were present.  John asked for a motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes since the members present had a copy to read.  Dispensing the reading of the minutes got a motion, a second and passed 6-0.  The members discussed the monthly tournaments.  Lewis Jones suggested holding the next monthly tournament in March to give the Tournament Committee time set and advertise the tournament.  The board decided to hold the next monthly tournament in March.  The members talked about changing the monthly tournament from the 2nd Saturday to the 2nd weekend of the month and let the bowling centers decide what day to bowl the tournament.  The members also discussed the monthly tournament rules.  Gordy Hall suggested using the same set of rules for all of the monthly tournaments.  John B. said that was something we could look at.  He also said that we could adjust the tournament rules if we need to.  Lewis asked the board to accept the city tournament rules from last year so he could start putting the tournament flyers out at the centers.  Everett King made a motion to accept the tournament rules.  The motion got a second and passed 6-0.  John B. asked if an officer or director had anything to report.  Gordy H. asked if the board would still meet on the 2nd Tuesday of Feb. since our annual meeting will be on Feb. 25.  Lewis suggested holding a meeting a few days before the city tournament starts so we could see who would work the tournament.  Lewis explained to the members what the directors who work the tournament would need to do.  The members decided to meet at the regularly scheduled date and time.  Lewis said he would contact directors about working the tournament.  Jack Noe told the members that he would have someone at Maroon Lanes to help work the tournament if needed.   John B. asked how were we advertising the tournament.  Lewis said he would leave flyers at the bowling centers and with league secretaries to pass out to their bowlers.  John B. asked if there was any new business to report.  Everett K. asked the board what they think about advertising our association and tournaments on Adelphia Cable.  He said they would probably do it for free.  John B. told him to find out and let the board know at the next meeting.  John B. appointed Everett King to the Hall Of Fame Committee.  Johnnie Culton made a motion to remove Bryan Culton from the board because he was unable to attend the meetings because of other interests.  The motion got a second and passed 6-0.  John B. told the members that we needed to work on finding bowlers interested in joining the board.  He said to bring anyone interested to the annual meeting and that we need people with good ideas and willing to work and attend meetings.  John asked if anyone else had anything to contribute to the meeting before we adjourn.  Jack N. said that he and Lewis would go ahead and set up the March monthly tournament.   The members talked about letting the bowlers know about the city tournament.  The meeting adjourned at 7:50.
