MCBA Annual Meeting

Members Present:  Harvey Poynter, Gary Kerns, Judy Poynter, Lewis Jones Jr, Dean Acker, Carl Daniels, Terry Jackson, David Norman, Mark Rogers, Beverly Shearer

 

Association President Harvey Poynter started the meeting by suggesting we increase the number of directors on the board by five. He stated there were four asking to join the board of directors and we have one opening and also said the only expense would be buying association shirts for the new members. He also suggested that we no longer pay the state tournament entry fees for the members who attend the state bowling association meeting at the annual KSBA tournament since we will have so many board members. The board voted to approve the increase in the number of officers and directors on the MCBA board of directors to twenty. Six directors terms expire on August 1, 2011. Amy Mayrhofer, Carl Daniels, Ben Conner, David Norman, Billy McGuire and Renda Roberts. To free up another spot for a new director Harvey suggested making Renda Roberts a honorary director since she won't be back bowling on a league until next season. The board voted unanimously for another two year terms for Amy, Carl, Ben, David and Billy. The board also approved the change for Renda from director to honorary director. Harvey then asked for nominations for new directors. The nominees are as follows: Jenny Morris, Julia Landreth, Gary Holtzclaw, Robert "Peanut" Johnson, Tyler Morgan and John Poynter. By an unanimous voted each nominee was voted onto the board of directors. Harvey discussed the income and expenses of the association over the last 6 months. The association paid out around $900 than was brought in during that time. The association has brought in more than $1,200 from 50/50 pots and brackets. More than $600 has been brought in from USBC local dues. The current account balance is $1,102. Harvey stated that we paid out $200 in bereavement donations. He also told the members to let the bereavement committee, Beverly Shearer and Judy Poynter, know of any deaths of association members and their immediate families so they can take care of getting them the donations. The board voted on several motions. The board voted to increase the association manager's salary to $500 and the President's salary to $250. Voted to pay the 2011-2012 USBC state and national dues for the board members. Voted not to pay for state tournament entry fees for the KSBA state tournament next season for the members who attended the state board meeting. Voted to buy association shirts for the new board members. David Norman, a member of the Hall Of Fame committee, presented the board with the HOF guidelines. He said the committee had three nominees in mind for the next meeting to vote on. Buying a plaque was discussed for putting the HOF members on to be displayed at Galaxy. The board voted to buy the plaque. A HOF nomination forms will be available for all bowlers in the MCBA to make a nomination for next year. The local Senior Tournament was discussed. Dean Acker passed out a draft for the tournament for the board members to look over. The board set the tournament for Monday March 28 at 6:30 PM. The board voted to accept the senior tournament rules from the draft. The board will next meet on Monday March 7 at 5:45 PM.
